Be sure to include your name, the due date, and the course name on the cover page before printing your final draft. Multiple-page documents should be stapled.

Please note that all work must be typed. If you do not have regular access to a computer and printer, do make arrangements to visit the BCC computer lab or a public library near your home.

Policy on Late Work

Late work will be docked 10% of a grade for each tardy day (the weekend will count as one day). If you are unable to attend class on an evening when an assignment is due, you must plan to submit it to the PACE office beforehand for it to be considered on time. Be sure any work submitted to the PACE office is date stamped by a staff or faculty member. No assignments will be accepted via email or fax.

Classroom Policies

Attendance

Attendance is not only critical to ensuring that we have a rich and lively learning environment, but it is also a requirement for the course. Put another way, attendance is mandatory. More than two unexcused absences will result in a failing grade for the course. We only meet one evening a week over the course of the term and we will cover a great deal of material in each class. You can’t afford to fall behind.

Please arrive on time, and do not leave class early as it is disruptive to the group (no matter how discreet you are).

About Electronics

Cell phones must be off during class. You will be given a break midway through each class when you can feel free to make phone calls and send texts. I do not allow the use of laptops during class time. If you have a learning disability that requires you to use a laptop, please provide me with a note from your doctor or from the PSSD office and I will make an exception. Headphones and other listening devices are not allowed at any time.

Plagiarism Policy

The definition of plagiarism includes the following: 1) Copying from the writing or work of someone else without citing the source, 2) submitting someone else’s work as if it were your own, 3) using the views or opinions of someone else without citing the source, 4) paraphrasing someone else’s work without citing the source.

Plagiarism is a very serious offense that can result in a failing grade the class or further action by the Dean of the college. If you are ever unsure whether you are unintentionally plagiarizing, please let me know right away so I can help. Don’t risk plagiarizing any portion of any assignment; the consequences are much too serious.
